BRIDESMAIDS & GROOMSMEN

Erica Schiraldi

Maid of Honor

When Madi pledged Phi Mu in 2014, Erica and Madi were paired up for Big/Little Week to "see if they'd be a good match."

From the very first day they met, Madi and Erica instantly bonded over their love of Harry Potter (Erica thinks Ravenclaws are better than Slytherins), music, and Gossip Girl over a very memorable night of running through the rain, eating cheese fries from Outback, and singing Frozen at the top of their lungs.

That magical match eventually turned into them becoming Big and little, and turned into a lifelong friendship that’s now 12 years strong.

Erica has always been the “mom” of the duo — and now she's beyond honored to stand beside Madi as her Maid of Honor!!

Sergio Lopez

Best Man

Sergio is many things: Springsteen superfan (and proud owner of a harmonica used by The Boss), comic book collector, record reseller, marathon runner, author, and Mayor of Campbell, California.

Fish and Sergio met in the Yale Class of 2017 Facebook group, and within days of being on campus they were working on the same insurgent political campaign for Mayor of New Haven. (Their candidate beat the machine - the second time.)

They’ve been each other’s suite party co-hosts, pro bono political consultants, book recommenders, and confidants for the last decade-plus - and now they’re also each other’s Best Men.

Sergio can’t resist a used bookstore. When they were in college, he won a prize for the breadth and quality of his book collection. Fish never has to wonder about what to get him for a gift. Ask him about the books he’s reading - and writing.

Shereef
Abdel-Gawad

Groomsman

Fish and Shereef were co-editors of their high school newspaper, Spark, which specialized in hard-hitting anti-administration commentary. The high school administration, not the Obama administration.

They were also co-organizers of Students for Obama phone banks during lunch.

Shereef is responsible for getting Fish into Arrested Development and Hacks, and for getting Madi obsessed with DC’s best Arab restaurants.

Together with Matt, they’ve spent many nights out being debaucherous, and many more nights at AMC Theatres watching and debating new releases. Shereef is the only person Fish has ever met who puts Sour Patch Watermelons in his movie popcorn.

When he’s not helping federal agencies level up their tech infrastructure, Shereef is busy being a new dad to Fish and Madi’s favorite baby of all time (so far), Selim.

Harry Huntley

Groomsman

By day an agriculture policy wonk, by night Annapolis’ Ward 1 Alderman, sailboat co-captain, and aspiring bean entrepreneur, Harry is a good person to meet if you’ve ever wondered whether there could be someone more earnest than Fish.

Fish and Harry met when Harry was in charge of recruiting more members for the Annapolis Democratic Central Committee and Fish filled out his Google Form. They quickly realized Fish and Madi had moved in a few doors down from Harry and his wife Sara on Dean Street.

Over two years of trivia nights (team name: Dean Scream), backyard beers, Ravens watch parties, and political machinations, they’ve become fast friends.

Ask Harry about beans, beers, and The Big Lebowski.

Sara Ramotnik Huntley

Bridesmaid

When Fish and Madi first moved to Annapolis, we all became fast friends.

By way of Monday night trivia games (shoutout Dean Scream), drinks in the backyard, and many political events, we knew we had a lot in common and that we wanted to make our community stronger.

Fast forward a few years, we share a love of Elin Hildebrand, Wishbone Kitchen recipes, and good wine. I’m so grateful to know Fish and Madi and am honored to stand by her side as they begin this new chapter of their lives.

Here’s to the happy couple!

Molly O'Steen

Bridesmaid

Over the past five years, Madi and Molly have had the pleasure of getting to know each other through family and shared experiences.

When Molly met Madi's brother, Reese, she had no idea she was also gaining a sister for life, and just how meaningful that bond would become.

From their very first meeting, there was an instant connection that has since grown into a truly special friendship.

It’s an honor for Molly to stand beside Madi on her big day, and she wishes Madi and Fish a life filled with love, happiness, and lasting companionship.

Matt Phelps

Groomsman

Fish and Matt met in Mrs. Matthews’ Pre-K class. After a second year paired up in Mrs. Waymouth’s Kindergarten class, they were never placed in the same class again throughout all 12 years of school. They’re still convinced this was on purpose.

They spent a good chunk of their childhood pretending to be other people together, including (respectively) the Blue and Green Power Rangers, Ron Weasley and Harry Potter, and, for reasons they cannot remember, Jasper and Horace from 101 Dalmatians.

Fish once made Matt sit for a comprehensive simulation of the Hogwarts fifth-year OWL examinations, devised using Harry Potter trivia directly from the books.

A school social worker who used to moonlight as a professional organ player, Matt is happy to share his hot takes on a wide variety of music (from classical to rap) and superheroes (from Marvel to DC).

Bailey Price

Bridesmaid

Madi and Bailey met at an Annapolis area wine tasting event in spring of 2024.

Both were stepping out of their comfort zones and branching out to try and meet some more local friends and put down some roots.

After choosing seats next to each other they started chatting and hit it off! Bailey really appreciated Madi’s ability to commit to a bit right away.

Since then they’ve continued growing their friendship and becoming more integrated in each other's lives being there for the big and small moments. From house parties, to dinner parties, to trivia nights, to happy hours to stand up shows to birthday celebrations, and most recently Fish and Madi’s engagement party!

Bailey is so honored and excited to be included in Madi’s bridal party and can’t wait to help celebrate her during this special time!

Greg Suralik

Groomsman

Fish and Greg met while picking potatoes on an organic farm in Connecticut - a 5-day camping trip before their freshman orientation at Yale.

They realized they were going to be friends when they found talking about (and occasionally sampling) their favorite musicals made the picking go faster.

Since then, they’ve trekked together on trips to Chicago, NYC, and the Dominican Republic, taken in David Sedaris readings and close-up magic shows, and shared a deep and abiding love for John Mulaney.

They were in a secret society together, but they’re not allowed to talk about it.

Greg lives in greater Boston. When he’s not working as a second-year medical resident, he’s recovering from being a second-year medical resident.

Jade
Budowski Todd

Bridesmaid

Practically neighbors, Jade and Madi were destined to be friends before they even met. In fact, Jade cared for Madi’s cat Kermit without realizing she was in the home of a future friend.

A short time (and one fateful brunch set up by mutual friend & bridesmaid Bailey) later, they finally met — and the rest is history!

Bonded by their shared Florida roots, reformed theater kid energy, and a passion for living in downtown Annapolis, Jade and Madi also discovered a mutual love of learning about wine (Level 1 sommeliers represent!).

They’re also united by their belief that the best things in life include a handwritten thank you note, a home-cooked meal, and the perfect cheese to go with your wine.

Though their friendship is relatively new, it feels like one that’s ~aged to perfection~. Jade is honored to be pouring all the love and support she has into Madi’s big day!

Zack Williams

Groomsman

Fish and Zack became friends because of a Groupon. The summer after their freshman year, they were both living in New Haven. Fish’s Groupon to Box 63 (RIP) was expiring, and everyone he knew was busy.

Zack happened to be on Facebook Messenger at the time. They’d met once. But Fish figured you can have an interesting dinner with just about anyone. They ended up talking for five hours.

Fish and Zack have been workout buddies, symphony aficionados, and co-completers of incredibly complex jigsaw puzzles across years and cities.

When Zack’s not conducting field-leading autism research or completing his residency in psychiatry at UCLA, he can be found making music, investing, doing mental health advocacy work, and debunking medical misinformation on Twitter.
